Laytown Races donate €500 to Laytown and Bettystown Tidy Towns Committees

To mark what should have been the 152nd running of Laytown races on Tuesday, September 1, the Laytown Races committee has donated €500 each to the Laytown and Bettystown Tidy Towns organisations.

Considering the Covid-19 pandemic and for public health and safety reasons, the Laytown Races committee made the difficult decision last month to cancel the 2020 race meeting.

Speaking about the donation, Joe Collins, Laytown Races Chairman, said: “My committee members and I greatly appreciate the goodwill and co-operation of Laytown and Bettystown residents to ensure racing can take place. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, Laytown Races had to be cancelled this year, however, we are keen to acknowledge the wonderful collaboration and community spirit we receive every September from residents and businesses from both villages. We hope our small gesture will go some way to support the wonderful work of Laytown and Bettystown Tidy Towns Committees. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to Laytown Races next September.”
